The biggest damage from the concentrated downpour was in the Gangnam area of Seoul and the landslide on Mount Umyeon. On July 27, torrential soil from Mount Umyeon in Umyeon-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, covered three apartment complexes and two residential areas, leaving many people isolated and causing several fatalities. Water also flooded areas around Seoul's downtown such as Gangnam Station and Gwanghwamun, and the Olympic Expressway and Gangbyeonbuk Road, major highways in Seoul, were also submerged, causing road paralysis. The flooding in the Gangnam area and the landslide on Mount Umyeon caused significant damage, including power outages in nearby apartment areas.
