Doksanseong Fortress, which is known to have been built during the Baekje period and used until the Joseon Dynasty, is a representative historic site of Osan.
'Semadae' derives its name from the legend that says during the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592, General Kwon Yul camped at this castle, and sent the Japanese army retreating by pretending to bathe his horse in rice.
